Recent Craziness

I’ve been busy working on a neat project lately, so it’s been taking up my time and things outside of that project seem a little slow, until last night.

I was out getting coffee late last night, came home, and about 3, I see a shadow on the wall opposite to me while checking the news. Never has this been a good sign, and it’s happened a lot lately. While in Grenada, I saw a little shadow descend while I was in the shower, just to see a big ugly cockroach on my bathroom floor. So I ran (naked) into the other room to suit-up and fight the damn thing. Now I say suit-up to sound manly, since I was basically being a big wimp about it, but I was sopping wet in a tracksuit and shoes, trying to scrape this thing out my front door with a bathmat since I refused to kill it. I suck at fighting creatures.

So anyways, shadow. I turn around, and a bat’s about 2 feet from my face, circling the room and looking pissed. Joy. And I don’t mean a little bat, this thing was huge for a bat. After flying out of my chair and much flailing of limbs, I scramble upstairs and start shutting doors. My dad gets up with me and this thing manages to get upstairs. Eventually after circling our kitchen for like 5 minutes, it finally left. Phew.

Back downstairs. I sit down, continue reading the news. 5 minutes later. Shadow. Same procedure: Flip out, run upstairs, shut doors, open outside ones. Dad’s back awake, he manages to catch this one (it was doin’ that cool bat-thing where you hang upside down and hide your face) in a cd-spindle cover thing and notepad. We let it go, I give up on news and go to bed.

Next morning, go for a kayaking trip at Moraine, enjoyed the sunshine, etc. Coming home though, my house smelt funny. The source: my computer. A fan fell off of my video card and the thing exploded. It’s sitting on my desk, nice, black, crispy, smelly. The AGP port it was resting in, just as burnt. Ah, but what miracles computers can be sometimes. Nothing is harmed on my setup. Nothing, aside from the cosmetics of the plastic AGP and the card itself. I popped in an old video card and it booted up like nothing was wrong. Sweet. Now I just have to wait for the smell to leave.

I’m going to Penn State tomorrow. Should be a fun couple of days. If you’re in State College and you’d like to see me, this is your chance. This is sort of a welcome-back-and-goodbye-again time for me, since I’ve missed a lot of my friends whom I haven’t seen since May and whom I won’t see again until January. So, you guys know the proper channels, I’d like to see as many people as possible before leaving for Germany.

Big breath!

ahhh. Feels nice.

Well, that was a good summer =D Sorry I didn’t update here. I did, however, import the posts from the blog I kept in Grenada. So if you hadn’t read it, there’s a little there. Sorry it’s a little mild, I have much better stories to tell, whenever my professional reputation isn’t at stake =) All in due time, friends. All in due time.

A little housekeeping too, nothing drastic. If you’re viewing this page in IE6, congratulations since it was pretty much unreadable for you before today. I hope you like the new decorations.

And with that, I’m off.
